Seattle Symphony: Rachmaninov Piano Concertos Nos. 1 & 2 | Live Music Project

One of the great pianists of his day, Sergey Rachmaninov poured his encyclopedic knowledge of the instrument into his compositions, creating some of the most challenging works in the piano repertoire — four piano concertos that are a tour-de-force of pianistic effects and require jaw-dropping technique to perform.

We celebrate the 150th anniversary of Rachmaninov’s birth, performing his full cycle of piano concertos over two nights amid the stunning acoustics of Benaroya Hall. On April 27, pianists Dominic Cheli and Alexander Malofeev start our celebration with Rachmaninov’s First and Second Concertos. On April 29, pianists Rémi Geniet and Albert Cano Smit complete the set with Rachmaninov’s Third and Fourth Concertos.
