Sneaker Of The Week: Adidas x Raf Simons Stan Smith

Since its re-release earlier this year, the Stan Smith has skyrocketed to the forefront of fashion’s favorite kicks. Frequently worn by style world influencers like Celine’s Phoebe Philo, Kanye West, Pharrell Williams, and every other aesthete looking for clean, unassuming footwear, it’s fair to say the Stan Smith’s iconic status has been revitalized. So it makes sense that another Adidas collaborator, Raf Simons, would want to put his own, high fashion spin on the classic style. At first glance, you might say that Simons hasn’t done much of anything to make the Stan Smith truly own, other than replacing the signature three stripe perforations with his own “R”. But with a silhouette this timeless, fussing around wouldn’t have necessarily added any value. The Simons version is done up in a much better leather than the one you’ll find in malls across America, not to mention comes in two unique, orange colorways you won’t find anywhere else. Plus, if you want loud Raf Simons sneakers, he’s already got tons of options for the sportswear giant. Whether that makes these worth the designer price tag is up to you.
