Sony Alpha SLT-A37 DSLR Camera with 18-55mm Zoom Lens

The Alpha SLT-A37 DSLR Camera with 18-55mm Zoom Lens from Sony is an Alpha series camera body that combines a 16.1MP CMOS sensor, Sony’s translucent mirror technology, and 2.7″ tilt and swivel LCD display – with the Sony 18-55mm zoom lens to get you shooting right out of the box. It’s cropped APS size sensor means the focal length of lenses attached to it are magnified by 1.5x, so the 18-55mm lens effectively becomes a 27-82.5mm lens on this camera body.

Thanks to its lightweight design, the A37 can be easier to carry around than traditional DSLR’s, but unlike your standard point-and-shoot you still have custom control of your images and camera settings. The A37 uses a 16.1MP Exmor HD APS CMOS sensor, in-camera image stabilization, and Sony’s proprietary Translucent Mirror Technology, to provide constant autofocus and image capture, simultaneously, unlike other DSLRs that use a reflex mirror that must flip up in order to capture images.

Using the A37 to capture RAW files will enable you to shoot and edit your images with even more latitude than a mere compressed JPEG. Use this ability to capture detailed photographs that can easily be enlarged, and viewed on your HDTV, computer monitor, digital picture frame, or prints both large and small.

With the Sony A-mount you can put any number of lenses onto the A37 and add the right lens for the situation. Having interchangeable lenses not only benefits your photographic creativity, but also your ability to record Full HD video with different effects and techniques. The high speed AF Full HD Movie mode allows you to record a maximum video resolution of 1920×1080, at either 60i or 24p. With features like Live View, the tilt and swivel 2.7″ LCD screen, and manual controls, you can record both photos and videos in a variety of situations. Additionally, the electronic finder does not go dark while recording HD movies, so you can continue to use it when framing or focusing, as well as the added stability of holding the camera to your eye.

No matter which mode you’re shooting in: video or still, all your files can be stored on a variety of optional memory cards. The camera’s media card slot allows for insertion of Sony’s own Memory Stick PRO Duo, Memory PRO-HG Duo, and SD/SDHC/SDXC memory cards. Other useful features of the camera include a built-in auto pop-up flash, which is great for grabbing low-light images, or Handheld Twilight and Multi-frame NR shooting modes for quality low-light images without the flash. You can also shoot 3D images for viewing on 3D televisions or monitors as JPEG or MPO files.
