Tale of the Tape for Chris Gruetzemacher vs. Alexander Hernandez

In the final bout on the preliminary card of UFC Vegas 12, Chris Gruetzemacher will take on Alexander Hernandez in a lightweight fight this Saturday live from Las Vegas and available on ESPN+.

Hernandez will enter as the heavy favorite. 11-3 in his UFC career, his fights average a fight time of 9:46. At 5-foot-9, he’ll also have a four-inch reach advantage. The 28-year-old only has losses to top-15 opponents, with both of those coming via knockout. He averages 3.17 significant strikes per minute while absorbing 3.87. but his grappling with 2.15 takedowns per 15 minutes shows where he wants to be. “The Great” will be looking to be just that on Saturday.

He’ll be taking on Chris “Gritz” Gruetzemacher. With a 14-3 MMA record, Gruetzemacher is 3-2 at the UFC level, but hasn’t fought since the spring of 2018. The exact opposite of Hernandez, Gritz will want this bout fought upright as he’s averaging 7.12 significant strikes per minute, landing 128 big blows in his last bout. He does take 5.09, but that shouldn’t be of too much concern as Hernandez would rather look to take him down than beat him up. If Gritz can keep this on his feet, he’ll have a chance.
