The US jeans brand Calvin Klein Jeans has recently launched Calvin Klein Jeans Reimagined Denim Collection, a new upcycled limited-edition capsule collection available exclusively in Hong Kong. The new collection was developed together with Fashion Clinic, a design studio and atelier from Hong Kong specialised in redesigning and upcycling dead stock garments and material for individuals, fashion and lifestyle brands as well as corporates and NGOs.The special Calvin Klein Jeans collection was made from excess denim and reworked using patchwork, reinforced rips, washing and distressing techniques. Handcrafted in Hong Kong utilizing 2,000 pairs of unworn jeans, no two pieces looked the same. They kept intact labels, buttons and zippers to further reduce waste. The offering included a denim jacket, jeans, hat, skirt and a bralette.Calvin Klein will donate 10% of the net proceeds of the Calvin Klein Jeans Reimagined Denim collection to Friends of the Earth, a Hong Kong’s environmental conservation group.“The Calvin Klein Jeans Reimagined Denim collection is an important step in our sustainability journey and reinforces our dedication to reducing our impact on the planet. By working with a local Hong Kong organization devoted to responsibility in fashion, we can bring a new perspective to Calvin Klein and a collection that will resonate with our sustainably-minded consumer,” said Tom Chu, regional president, PVH Asia-Pacific.
Kay Wong, creative director, Fashion Clinic, commented, “The Calvin Klein Jeans Reimagined Denim collection embodies our goal of designing a future without waste by utilizing upcycled denim to create something new. Each piece is locally designed and made in Hong Kong to reduce the carbon footprint from transportation.”
