The NEW Chanel Ultra Le Teint All-Day Comfort Foundation | Review and Swatches – Cat’s Daily Living

If you follow my blog (first off a BIG thank you and virtual hugs), then you’ll have heard me speak of being in a foundation rut. I recently tried the Hourglass Vanish Liquid, but must confess I’m not the biggest fan for all the reasons mentioned in my review here. So when I heard that Chanel recently launched Le Teint Ultrawear All-Day Comfort Flawless Finish Foundation, there was no hesitation. I simply had to try it.

In January 2019, Chanel released their latest foundation, the new Chanel Ultra Le Teint. It’s a comfortable, lightweight, long-lasting, full coverage base with a matte finish. The formula claims to provide 24-hours of flawless coverage. Available in 30 shades, this is the most extensive range offered by Chanel. Not all shades are available at Chanel retailers. But all 30 shades are available on Chanel’s website here.

Key Features

A light-diffusing complex creates natural luminosity, while absorbent powders leave a perfect matte finish. Amino-acid coated pigments deliver weightless coverage for a lasting, flawless look, even in the most environmentally strenuous conditions. Enriched with Chanel’s Luminous Perfection soft-focus powder, the formula corrects visible imperfections and illuminates the complexion for the look of smooth, even skin. It is buildable to achieve the desired coverage.

My Experience

When it comes to foundations, my requirements are few: good coverage, skin-like finish, great lasting power (10 hours on average) and transfer/sweat proof. Generally, I have been a fan of Chanel base products (foundations and powders). The only exception thus far being their Les Beiges Foundation. It simply did not agree with my skin. More on that in a previous post here. Although I have loved most of the Chanel foundations I’ve tried, my experience with Les Beiges left me skeptical. So, I didn’t know what to expect from Ultra Le Teint. I selected shade B40 and ordered from Nordstrom (love their lenient return policy), just in case I’d have to take it back. Well, I didn’t. In fact, I love love love this foundation.

Here’s why:
  • Texture – It has a lightweight, fluid texture that glides and melts beautifully into the skin. It’s slightly thicker than La Mer Soft Fluid (reviewed previously here) and Armani Luminous Silk, but more fluid than Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua and By Terry Terrybly Densilliss (all reviewed in a previous post here).
  • Coverage – It has a medium coverage that can effortlessly be built up to full coverage. It layers easily without caking. I typically apply a thin layer to provide medium coverage and use a concealer to camouflage those pesky acne scars or the hyperpigmentation on my nose.
  • Finish – It has a natural-looking, luminous, soft matte finish. It truly does look like second-skin. I find that the best validation often comes from those who’ve known me a while and are familiar with how I look on a day-to-day basis. On several occasions, different family members and friends have complimented the look of my skin when wearing this foundation.
  • Lasting Power – While I can’t attest to the 24-hour claim, I can happily tell you that this foundation lasts on my skin all day. It doesn’t transfer, doesn’t oxidize and doesn’t separate like the Hourglass Vanish Liquid reviewed previously here. I usually apply it in the morning around 8am and take it off around 9-10pm. I also live in Florida, so for a foundation to have such lasting power is quite impressive. The only other foundation that managed to last just as long has been the YSL All Hours reviewed previously here. But I found that foundation a bit too drying in comparison to Chanel Ultra Le Teint.
Best Way To Apply

This foundation has such a beautiful, fluid texture and blends so effortlessly that you can use any makeup tool to apply it. That means a brush, beauty blender or your fingers. I’m not a fan of using my fingers, so for me, the best way to apply this foundation is using my Artis Palm Brush Mini or Oval 7 (see how in a previous post here and here).

Final Thoughts

I started out not having any expectations at all (apart from hoping I had ordered the right shade) and then being in complete and utter awe at the skin-like finish, lasting power and luminosity this foundation managed to impart. The Chanel Ultra Le Teint is, without question or doubt, in my top 5 foundations (La Mer Soft Fluid remaining the one to beat solely because of the additional skincare benefits included).

The new Chanel Ultra Le Teint Foundation is available at Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus and on the Chanel website here. Have you tried it yet? What’s your go-to foundation at the moment?
