The latest Crocs x Balenciaga collaboration features a stiletto

Balenciaga is no stranger to a headline-making collaboration, and the house’s latest collection has certainly got people talking. The fashion house has once again teamed up with Crocs on a collection which includes a very divisive take on fashion’s most practical shoe.

The two brands have created a stiletto version of the Croc. The shoe – which is part of Balenciaga’s spring/summer 2022 collection – comes in bright green and in black, and looks exactly like the typical Croc design, complete with a rubber finish, plenty of holes and a strap back, but also features a high heel.

In many ways, the high-fashion take on the world’s most comfortable shoe could be a perfect way to step back into heels again after months living in lockdown. However, not everyone is convinced. The reaction on social media has of course been mixed, with many confused at the £800 design, while others will likely snap it up, if previous sold-out collections are anything to go by.

And the high-heeled Croc is not the only shoe in the collection, with Balenciaga also sending a pair of platform Croc Wellington boots down the catwalk, which may be even more popular, considering fashion’s current love of the comfortable rain boot.

Balenciaga and Crocs have teamed up before. Back in 2018, the two brands debuted a pair of £600 platform yellow shoes which sold out before they even hit stores. Other designers, including Christopher Kane, have also put a high-fashion spin on the practical shoe.
