Truth Calvin Klein perfume – a fragrance for women 2000

I’ve blind bought this as I could get it for an extremely reasonable price.

The reviews here are mostly right. It’s a very natural scent, beautiful and refreshing. I’ve tried it yesterday when it was scorching hot where I live.

There’s something in there that’s definitely “perfume-y”, I reckon that’s supposed to be the woman in the forest. The cooling floral and green notes are more like a backdrop to this warmth, although it might have been the hot weather yesterday that made the warmth in this scent most prominent. I imagine this scent would work better on cooler days.

But as things were, that warmth became somewhat overpowering to the point where I didn’t recognise a human in it, but rather the hot, humid weather. I’m standing in a dense forest when I suddenly discover a lovely, deep blue pond, surrounded by an abundance of flowers, grass and bamboo; the clover is very apparent too. Not even the dense canopy of dark green leaves can keep out the hotness and humidity of this day and I’m staring at the pond, tempted to jump in but unwilling to do so, because I don’t want to disturb the gorgeous waterlilies floating on its surface.I can smell them and – though it might seem impossible – I can actually smell the water itself. Its cooling scent and promise of refreshment is singing a hypnotising song of temptation like a siren that’s seducing me to come nearer.

As I stand there pondering, the humidity becomes unbearable so I eventually look around to make sure I’m alone, then take off all my clothes and just jump in. I’m immediately surrounded by refreshing, cool (not cold) clear water. The refreshing feeling is so welcome on this day that I just do nothing and let myself sink deeper and deeper. This pond is surprisingly deep and when it seems that I won’t reach the bottom any time soon, I start swimming. When I resurface I take a deep breath and inhale all the scents of the flowers and greenery, feeling deeply refreshed to my very core.

This scent is quite special in that it actually stays green and fresh throughout. Where most scents – even the greens and fresh ones – generally get warmer the more they dry down, this one manages to do the opposite until at last only the pond and the waterlilies are still present. It’s quite remarkable. Especially how it creates this vivid imagery of crystal clear, fresh water. If water had a smell, this would be it.

Longevity is good, the base will last until the next shower, sillage is decent, but it becomes more of a skin scent somewhere in the heart phase. Spraying more should fix this, but as the head is so strong, I’d recommend spraying it at least half an hour before leaving the house.

Will test again on a cooler day, which will hopefully come soon.

Update: have tested again in cooler weather and I was right. The perfume-y, warm part is still there, but only in the very opening. It fades much quicker than on a hot day and only leaves behind that cooling, floral, comfortable, green aquatic. Very nice indeed.
