Rain Dove, a model who is dating Rose McGowan, has been in the news after turning over texts with the Italian actress Asia Argento to the police. The texts may be used as evidence in a potential criminal case against Ms. Argento, who arranged to pay $380,000 to “help” Jimmy Bennett, a former child actor who said she sexually assaulted him when he was 17.

Who Is Rain Dove?

Rain Dove Dubilewski is a 28-year-old model who was born in New York and grew up in Vermont. The model prefers gender-neutral pronouns.

Dove said in interviews with The New York Times that they had been aware as a child that “there wasn’t language for how I felt” with regard to gender identity.

Starting in elementary school in rural Vermont, Dove was nicknamed “Tranny Danny” by classmates, but did not realize that the name was an insult until halfway through freshman year, according to an interview with BuzzFeed in 2015. In high school, when a great-grandparent was about to die, the teenager decided to take the family name Dubilewski, and added Rain Dove, an Abenaki name they had been called since early childhood, to their legal name.
