Your videos at the highest quality on YouTube within Safari
Something that had always been quite annoying to me is that when playing the videos within YouTube, the integrated player itself always selected a display resolution lower than that allowed by my connection, that is, if I have 100 Mb available in download how is it possible that I automatically selected a resolution of 720p which at this point is insufficient with HiDPI resolution panels like the MacBook Pro Retina.
Investigating a little more in the integrated options of the player I have been able to verify that to select the reproduction quality it only lets us select two different options, one comes up like ‘I have a slow connection. Never play high quality videos ”and the other is“ Always select the best quality for my connection and player size ”. This means that if the video is not reproduced in full screen we cannot obtain the best quality … until now.
The world of plug-ins or extensions within browsers and many other applications makes us add extra functionality to these applications to obtain options that were not implemented by default before, this is the case of the plug-in that I bring you today, it is called HD quality for YouTube 0.1.5 and its only purpose is that we always see any video on YouTube at the highest possible quality even if it is not playing in full screen.
The way to install it is very easy, we will only have to go to the Safari menu and click on Safari Extensions, it will automatically take us to the page where we can download the plug-ins compatible with our browser, in the search bar that appears we will enter YouTube and among the results we will find this plug-in, when we have it located we will click on Install now and it will be activated. If we want to eliminate it, we will have to enter Safari Preferences, go to the extensions tab and click on uninstall.
