Alexander Rybak at the Eurovision Song Contest

Alexander Rybak first represented Norway at the 54th Eurovision Song Contest in Moscow with the song ‘Fairytale’. The melancholic pop song was a hot favourite going into the 2009 contest, which gave Norway its third win – receiving 387 points in what would be a landslide victory.

The popularity of this entry cannot be understated: in a recent #EurovisionAgain rewatch of the 2009 contest, Alexander Rybak once again won by a comfortable margin.

In 2018, he returned for the 63rd edition of the contest after another MGP landslide. Opening the second semi-final, Rybak had the honour of being the 1500th song to enter in the contest! Similar to 2009 experience, Alexander Rybak was a hot favourite to win the contest (a second time). He won the second semi-final. However, in the Grand Final he came 15th with 144 points.
