Allure Sensuelle by Chanel (Eau de Parfum) » Reviews & Perfume Facts
Anyway, today it’s about Chanel Allure. No, of course I don’t mean the men’s fragrance Allure Homme or even Allure Homme Sport, which is recommended again and again at fragrance consultations (similar to Aventus), because it is said to have the ability to pull down the ladies’ panties (or as some people say: panty-dropper…) if a guy approaches the ladies with this scent (which is not true at all, by the way… or… and that’s more likely… again, it just doesn’t work for me *sigh* … 😀 Good thing I tried Allure Homme Sport as a bottling instead of getting a bottle of it drooling… :DDD). No, it’s the women’s fragrance Allure Sensuelle EDP, a quite popular scent by Chanel, but somehow not so much noticed lately. Anyway, it seems to me that this is because I had always seen how everyone preferred to sniff other Chanel scents and the Allure line was more noticed by guys (besides Bleu de Chanel).
But all right, back to the allure sensuelle. According to Chanel’s website, this is a fragrance that is supposed to express the sensual side of a lady. It should fascinate everyone like a radiant woman with a lot of self-confidence… well,… descriptions are just a thing in themselves, and exactly such descriptions you can read about every second fragrance on the market, so the description is rather meaningless for me personally 😀
Anyway, now we come to the fragrance, I hope that the scent is better than the description 😀
The smell:
The fragrance begins with floral scents, but above all with citrus notes. I can smell a mix of oranges, lemons and peaches, all smelling nice together. But it is not citric tangy but more creamy, which is of course also quite nice. Shortly afterwards I smell an intense patchouli note, which smells earthy and gives me the feeling that this scent could be quite intense later, but wait and see.
Pink pepper provides a little fruity sweetness, which might come from the candied fruit later on, at least I feel as if I perceive such scents, but honestly this is only appreciated as I wouldn’t necessarily think of it if it wasn’t written here.
After a while, i.e. after 30 minutes to an hour, the scent becomes much more patchouli-heavy and thus smells both very earthy and quite ripe. Patchouli is then clearly the main scent and basically covers all other scents, such as the sweetish notes, which are much less pronounced, or the gentle scents like vanilla, which now also take a back seat.
And basically it already was, because I had the feeling that the fragrance did not change after the heart note. I think that’s a pity, as from now on until the end, the only thing you smell from now on is patchouli, while everything else takes a back seat to such an extent that you can hardly smell it, you only notice a small mix of amber/vanilla and incense, but only if you concentrate. Thereby, in the end, the scent remains a little monotonous for me, what wouldn’t be bad if a scent continuously smells like a scent note, but patchouli is not really my thing… for me, there are from there much more beautiful Chanel scents. But maybe you like it better!
The Sillage and the durability:
The sillage is above average in strength and therefore not only smells good at a short distance. So for a while you will be able to smell good, but without scenting the whole room, I think… 😀
The shelf life is over eight to ten hours, which is pretty good.
The bottle! The bottle is rectangular and, despite its simplicity, makes a rather high-quality impression. The lid is cylindrical and has two parts, which means it’s burgundy, but it also has a chrome section in the middle, and on the top of the lid, you can still see the Chanel logo. A nice bottle, which, as I said, also looks a bit simple.
Conclusion:
I have to say that Chanel Sensuelle EDP started out well, but then I personally got a little too much patchouli-heavy. For patchouli fans, the fragrance is certainly a feast, but for me it makes the scent look a bit monotonous, slightly old-fashioned and a little dry (even if it should look softer). I wouldn’t recommend the fragrance to younger ladies in particular, especially not for going out or celebrating, as it might not look very sexy now. For normal, social occasions, i.e. going out to dinner or such things (or also discreetly dosed at work) you can of course use the fragrance, especially from, uh… 30, 40, 66 and up? Mu ha ha, ne ne, I don’t play age games with you ladies here, meanwhile I know you here too well and know that no matter what I say, it is ALWAYS WRONG, no matter what I say… *sigh* :DD
Honestly, the beginning was quite nice, but then I liked the smell less and less. Of course, that’s just the way I feel. It’s kind of like scents with coriander. It could be the most beautiful fragrance in the world for most people, but I would run away every time because I absolutely can’t stand coriander. Tastes are just different, so the same applies here: Just test it independently of my description and decide for yourself 🙂
However, I would recommend the autumn and winter for a test, as it was already quite overwhelming for me on warm days!
