Arsenal transfer lift with £75m forward Alexander Isak set to become available due to key reason
Arsenal have been handed a boost in their attempt to sign Real Sociedad’s Alexander Isak with one report detailing why the centre-forward could move on.
The Swede was in great form last season, registering 17 goals and two assists in 44 matches. He also gained European experience as Sociedad reached the Europa League round of 16, where they were beaten by Manchester United.
Isak’s impressive performances saw Arsenal come in for him during the summer. However, the Gunners didn’t manage to get a deal over the line.
The 22-year-old seems to have been affected by the transfer interest. This term, he has found the net just eight times in all competitions.
Nevertheless, Isak remains a highly coveted asset and more proposals are likely to emerge at the end of the season.
Arsenal are in need of a new striker following the exit Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. In addition, Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah are wanted by teams elsewhere.
Alexander Isak has huge price tag
Isak has a £75million release clause in his contract but would be a great solution for Mikel Arteta up front.
With this in mind, it seems Arsenal have been given a lift when it comes their pursuit of the 34-cap international.
According to football.london, who cite reports in Spain, Isak will become available for transfer if Sociedad fail to qualify for Europe.
La Real are sixth in La Liga currently, having won 13 out of 29 games. They are nine points behind the top four and five off Real Betis, who sit in fifth.
One positive for Sociedad is the fact they have a match in hand.
Sociedad will have to go on an impressive run though to register for next season’s Champions League. UEL qualification is more likely, but it remains to be seen if Isak wants to play at this level.
This gives Arsenal another incentive to make the Premier League’s top four. Such a finish would surely tempt Isak to move to the Emirates Stadium.
The starlet, labelled a ‘battering ram’ by the original report, is not the only player who may leave Sociedad.
Adnan Januzaj, Robin Le Normand and David Silva are all in line for summer transfers, too.
