Balenciaga Is Selling Rs 1.42 Lakh Destroyed Sneakers That Remind Us Of Our Old PT Shoes
Lately, high-end fashion brands have gone overboard with their designs and if we have learnt anything from it is that people will still buy from them as long as they have a logo on their product.
Last year, it was a shoppers bag worth Rs. 1.5 lakh that looked so ordinary that it reminded us of the desi thailas we have at home and this time it’s the extremely distressed sneakers that have people scratching their heads.
Balenciaga dropped their limited edition distressed Paris sneakers a couple of days ago and people are still trying to make some sense of it.
The collection consists of 100 pairs of destroyed and worn-out trainers and is priced somewhere between $625 to $1850 (approx Rs.48K to Rs. 1.42 lakh in INR).
While some compared it with their gym shoes and PT shoes others said they fished out their old shoes from the trash and are selling it as a limited edition. However, jokes apart, some suggested that it’s for a campaign and is not the actual product.
Here is what people think about the “new” Balenciaga Paris Sneakers.

The description on the official website reads, “A retooled classic design which interprets mid-century athleticism and timeless casual wear in black, white, or red, with a white rubber sole and toe with distressed canvas and rough edges, affecting a pre-worn look.”
“A dedicated campaign shows the shoes extremely worn, marked up, and dirtied. These still life portraits, by photographer Leopold Duchemin, suggest that Paris Sneakers are meant to be worn for a lifetime. A limited edition of 100 pairs of these extra destroyed sneakers will be available on balenciaga.com in either black or white while supplies last,” it adds.
The shoes are currently up for pre-order and will be available worldwide on the fashion brand’s website and in stores from May 9th (for European stores, May 16th for the United States and Middle East stores and May 23rd for Japan stores) ahead of a worldwide launch.
So, will you be buying these extra distressed shoes?
