BAPE References Burberry for 200% Check Print Capsule Collection

Japanese streetwear mainstay BAPE has released a capsule referencing the iconic Burberry check. Comprised of outerwear, shirts, sweatshirts, T-shirts, socks and a variety of hats, the label brings both a traditional cream-and-red tartan as well as a vibrant blue-and-pink iteration to its roster of FW19 clothing.

The checkered print has been blown up by 200% from its original form first used back in 1996. As a result, the checks make for large interweaving squares on garments such as the half-zip pullover and sweater, and appear to color the APE head motif in using stripes on the selection of T-shirts.

T-shirts are given either collegiate-style branding, a large APE head emblem placed off-center or vertical serif branding. Standout items from this capsule include the socks which sport an embroidered APE head on the top — similar to the Oxford shirts from this collection — as well as the bucket hat.
