Blackpink’s Jennie Brings a Personal Touch to Calvin Klein Basics
Denim staples and minimalistic basics are part of Calvin Klein’s new collection with Blackpink member, Jennie. The PVH Corp.-owned brand is planning a worldwide launch of the limited-edition capsule collection on May 10, supported by a campaign that features the K-pop superstar.
Though tweed miniskirts and corset tops are part of the recent Coachella headliner’s stage persona, the Calvin Klein collection takes cues from Jennie’s everyday style and spans underwear sets, denim, tees, fleece and knits in fresh pastel colorways. Personalized touches including custom branding that reimagines the iconic Calvin Klein logo in Jennie’s handwriting.
Key items include a denim shirt and ’90s jeans offered in chalk blue and desert tan, and a chalk blue denim bralette and coordinating miniskirt made with sculpting fabric. The soft color scheme is carried into T-shirts, sweatshirts, tank dresses, long-sleeve bodysuits, bras and underwear, which also come lilac, black and gray.
“My aspiration for this collection is that everyone will feel as happy and confident in these pieces as I do,” Jennie said in a statement.
The 27-year-old singer previously starred in Calvin Klein’s Fall 2022 and Spring 2023 campaigns.
“Having worked with Jennie on several campaigns, we know firsthand that she is a cultural powerhouse. Her persona, talent and distinctive style have a major global impact,” said Jonathan Bottomley, Calvin Klein global chief marketing officer. “Our partnership stems from an authentic place—Jennie is a longtime fan of the brand—and we wanted to deepen that relationship by bringing her personal perspective to our products.”
K-pop sensations play a major role in Calvin Klein’s storytelling this year. In March, the brand named Jung Kook, the South Korean singer, songwriter and member of boy band BTS, a global brand ambassador. Kook made his debut for the brand in a Spring 2023 campaign wearing ’90s jeans, a relaxed-fit denim shirt and oversized denim jacket.
