Burberry Kisses Lipstick in Military Red No. 109 review | *Maddy Loves
In the second part of my Burberry makeup reviews, I will be covering the Burberry Kisses Lipstick in Military Red No. 109 and the Burberry Fresh Glow Compact Foundation. I previously reviewed the Burberry Complete Eye Palette in Rose Pink No. 10, the Burberry Light Glow Blush in Hydrangea Pink No. 10, and Burberry Effortless Eyebrow Definer in Ash Brown No. 03 here.
Burberry Kisses Lipstick in Military Red No. 109 (C$36) is a rich, blue based red. The formula is almost like a gel-cream, in that it’s very lightweight and super comfortable to wear, but is creamy and has the pigmentation of the cream lipstick. The formula is very buildable, you can get a sheerer, more jelly-like look with just one swipe, or you can build it up to a rich red with multiple swipes. Even after building this on the lips, it still feels virtually weightless. I’m a huge fan of the Burberry Kisses formula, and while normally reds are harder to wear and pull off, both the colour, formula, and texture of Military Red makes this an accessible and wearable red for everyone that’s still glamourous and very beautiful.
Hands down, the Burberry Fresh Glow Compact Foundation in Rosy Nude No. 31 (C$64) is my favourite powder foundation formula. I previously expressed my utmost love for the Burberry Fresh Glow Foundation and Luminous Fluid Base, and I continue this tribute to the Fresh Glow Compact Foundation. I’ve used several in the past, but I’ve pretty much given up on compact foundations because they tend to cling to dry spots, and as I’ve gotten older, I seem to be getting more and more dry spots. Fresh Glow Compact Foundation is a super creamy, very lightweight powder foundation that provides sheer to medium (if used wet) coverage.
I’ve been mostly using this on days when I need to even out my skintone a bit, but don’t need much coverage, and it does exactly that. I really helps to make my skin look more even-toned, helping to tone down the redness or any unevenness in the skin. I haven’t found this foundation to cling to any dry spots at all, and it just looks super natural on with a matte but subtly glowy – like a lit from within – finish. Oil control is average; I usually have to blot a few hours in anyways and this is no different. This isn’t a dealbreaker though, and all in all I still really like using this.
