Carrie Bradshaw and Aleksandr Petrovsky Reunited On The Weekend

Remember the Russian on Sex And The City? He was the heavily-accented, workaholic man who could offer heroine Carrie Bradshaw the Parisian fairytale but was caught in the crossfire of love sparks between his girlfriend and Mr. Big who flew to the French capital to woo her back to New York. It was a time in Carrie’s life where she realised the romance of Paris wasn’t worth the hype – nor was the slap on her cheek – and was in fact a lonely experience without her soulmates (read: her best girlfriends) to talk to at brunch.

Well, Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) and Aleksandr Petrovsky (Mikhail Baryshnikov) have reunited – in real life, actually, at the Cinema Society screening of the Rudolf Nureyev-directed The White Crow. Their reunion reportedly sent photographers into a frenzy.

As New York dwellers, Parker, 53, and famed dancer Baryshnikov, 70, are often seen on the social circuit. Their last reunion was seven months ago at the 2018 New York City Ballet Fall Fashion Gala.

In a 2004 interview with O Magazine, Parker revealed it was her idea to bring Baryshnikov onto the show, much to the surprise of SATC fans. Describing him as “the greatest living dancer of all time, and a curious and interesting man… who’s also sexy and smart and cultured and otherworldly,” the actress very strangely described the moment she realised he should be part of the show. She was in the shower. “Then it just came to me: Baryshnikov! I’ve loved him forever,” she said. “Standing in the shower that day, I didn’t dream that in a million years we’d ever get Mikhail on the show.”

It’s odd, but the script was great.  Here’s a revisit of their relationship:
