Chanel Cruise 2020: How to wear the dark glossy lip as seen on the runway
How would you describe the makeup looks at the Chanel show?
Since the girls in the show today are just about to set-off on their travels, I wanted to keep the looks pretty and natural, while remaining refined and sophisticated. I opted for a flawless base, simply highlighting the skin with a sweep of transparent balm. I intensified the contour of the eyes with Stylo Ombre Et Contout (04 Electric Brown) by Chanel, creating a light contouring on the cheeks. Twenty of the models also wore a black lip. The idea came to me when I saw the black detailing in the collection, such as the black trousers, bows and the headband that was played off against a colorful dress. I wanted to add a little more intensity, strength and attitude with this statement beauty look. The result is very sophisticated. If I were to describe it in a few words, I would say it’s a 1990s twist on a 1920s heroine.
Do you have any tips for recreating the dark lip?
First and foremost, keep the skin natural, enhanced with a little glow. Then, so the look stays in place, you want to layer the lips with color: I prep the surface with a lip liner before covering the lips in a dark, very matte lipstick, then add a layer of gloss on top to the desired effect. I also added a little burgundy (Rouge Allure Velvet Extreme in Rouge Obscur)* on top of the black cherry gloss (Rouge Coco Gloss Laque Noir)* to acheive a tone tailor-made to the model, making it more wearable.
