CHANEL · Le Lift Crème, Crème Fine & Crème Riche
CHANEL has reformulated their Le Lift skincare range and apart from introducing 3 new textures, the jars have been given a facelift as well, coming in a rosy beige tone as opposed to the previous solid black. What a lot people may not be aware of, is that Gabrielle Chanel was quite the visionary when it came to taking care of one’s skin, envisioning a woman who took control of her beauty. According to Mademoiselle: “Nature gives you the face you have at twenty. Life sculpts your face at thirty. But it’s up to you to earn the face you have at fifty” (and beyond, I might add).

Going back to the drawing board, CHANEL Research looked to nature when reformulating this range, in particular, the humble alfalfa plant. This relatively frail-looking plant actually owes its nutritional richness to a highly developed root system that is able to draw nutritive elements from the soil in order to nourish its every cell. Forget the sprouts we’re used to seeing (and eating) when it comes to alfalfa; the version used here is a botanical concentrate — the quintessence of the plant — extracted from the seeds in a sustainable manner. Also present in the formula is Edulis, elements, trace minerals, vitamins, and Amino Acids, all working together to help nourish & regenerate the skin. Interestingly enough, another unique feature of the alfalfa concentrate in the mix, is that despite its gentle nature, it can hold its own against retinol (a compound known for being much harsher for many to tolerate) while providing similar results. Not bad, wouldn’t you agree?
Le Lift Crème (CAN $170.00) | with its “melt-away” texture, this version will suit a broad range of complexion needs and can even work effectively as both a day and night cream. You can consider this version the workhorse of the three, and if you’re in the market for a moisturizer that can do it all, then look no further. PS: a little goes a long way, so one jar should last quite a while, in case you’re wondering.
Le Lift Crème Fine (CAN $170.00) | The lightest texture of the three, this feels more like a gel than a cream, as well as being slightly cooling to the skin upon initial application. This is the moisturizer I’ve been reaching for to use doing the day, as it absorbs quickly and thoroughly once applied, and does not interfere with makeup applied on top. I’m thinking that this is also going to be my go-to once the weather starts warming up (which couldn’t come soon enough for me).
Le Lift Crème Riche (CAN $170.00) | The densest texture-wise of the three, this feels more balm-like than the other two and is definitely better suited as a night treatment, or for those with the driest complexions. My skin has been going through several changes and with the onset of colder weather I’ve definitely been needing something richer to use, especially at night. That said, this moisturizer has become my hero product and I’ve been relying on it nightly, waking up to thoroughly quenched and baby-soft skin in the morning. Seriously, it’s unbelievable.
So there you have it: 3 moisturizers that I didn’t want to love (because of the price, obviously), but now that I’ve seen their effect on my skin, there’s literally no going back. You know the saying: you get what you pay for, and in this case, you’re getting the best possible version of your skin — exactly what I’ve been looking for. And take it from me: I can guarantee that any one of these creams would make the skincare lover on your Christmas list very, very happy.
