I have been testing out the new Chanel Le Volume Stretch Mascara and wanted to share my thoughts with you. I have all the details with before and after photos too. Plus I have a comparison and 12 hour wear test with the classic Le Volume de Chanel.

First of all, I absolutely love the packaging of this mascara. It is super chic and classic, with a stunning matte woven texture that looks like it has silk thread finely wrapped aroung the tube. It is understated perfection. I’m obsessed.

John Lewis* currently have 10% off.

This mascara uses a brush that has been 3D-printed and it is quite different to anything I have used before. The brush is completely hollow to allow for full flexibility.

My Review

I love the brush on this mascara as it really works to grab my lashes and extend them up and out. You can pretty much place the lashes right where you want them, as you catch them with the spikes on the wand.

What I like to do is go in with one really good coat for a quick eye-opening look. You can also layer this up, and get quite a dramatic effect which I also really love. I get nice spikey lashes with a couple of coats, but the second coat needs to be done pretty quickly while the first coat is still wet, or it can drag a little.

If you are averse to any little clumps at all, you may well want to stick with one good coat. I felt it lasted really well on my lashes and didn’t drop down over the nine hours I wore it. It didn’t transfer or flake, and even held up well when I touched my lashes.

If you are wondering what makeup up I have on my eyes and face in this first set of photos, it is the new Estee Lauder Matte & Glow Bronzing Trio in the new Bronze Goddess 2020 collection. I’m obsessed!

Chanel Le Volume Stretch Mascara Before & After Photos

I really like how this looks on my lashes as I felt it gave a nice curl without using eyelash curlers.

Before: (by the way my makeup looks much more orange zoomed in, than in real life!!)

Le Volume Stretch de Chanel vs Le Volume de Chanel

I thought it might be useful to compare it quickly the classic Volume de Chanel mascara. This isn’t actually a mascara I use, but I got a sample of it in with the new Chanel Le Volume Stretch Mascara, so I thought I’d give it a quick go.

As you can see, the orginal brush is different and looks more like a traditional mascara wand. I prefer the new brush because the design does mean that you really catch and gently grab each lash to get a full extension and a good eye-opening look.

With application, I found that the original brush ‘strokes’ the product on to the lashes (like many traditional brushes do). Whereas the new Stretch brush really catches, grabs and pulls the lashes up in to place, so I can get the curl, and the result I am looking for much more quickly.

Here’s are some comparison photos. I applied the classic Le Volume de Chanel to the left side of the photo, and then the new Le Volume Stretch de Chanel to the right side of the photo.

Before:

After – Le Volume (left side of photo) & Le Volume Stretch (right side of photo) – both one good coat:

1 Coat - Le Volume (left) & Le Volume Stretch (right)

After (as above) – both two coats:

2 Coats - Le Volume (left) & Le Volume Stretch (right)

Sorry for the scary eyes in that last shot – think I was getting a bit bored!!

The formulas themselves don’t seem too far apart from each other on application at all.

So I tested out the tow mascaras for over 12 hours and this is how they looked at the end of the day. The original Le Volume stayed truer to application over time than the new Stretch version. There is no fall out on Le Volume and some dotting below the eye on Le Volume Stretch.

The curl on Le Volume stayed up. It was still very curled when I went to bed, whereas Le Volume Stretch has fallen a little. Having said that, when I asked my boyfriend which eye he preferred, he say the eye with Le Volume Stretch as it looked more natural yet still really long and fluttery.

So it’s really up to you to make up your own mind! You can buy the original Le Volume via the following links for £28:
