About My Skin: A vitamin C serum devotee
I believe in the power of vitamin C and use it every single day in my morning and sometimes evening skincare routine. I have combination/sensitive skin, and my main concerns are texture, addressing dullness, elasticity, and anti-aging. I apply vitamin C every morning before my sunscreen as the last step in my skincare routine. Some brands I’ve used for vitamin C serums are Skinceuticals, Instanaturals, and Drunk Elephant.
Keep in mind that if you’re sensitive to essential and fruit oils, this is not going to be the serum for you as it contains plant and fruit extracts.
How to Apply: To face and neck morning and night
There are a few ways you can apply this serum for the best results. If you have sensitive skin and are new to vitamin C, you can start by adding a few drops of the serum morning and evening (or at least three times per week) to your daily moisturizer and work your way up to applying the serum to your bare face when the time comes. You can also apply a few drops to your bare face after cleansing in the morning and evening before your final skincare products. For a simple a.m. routine, apply the serum and follow up with sunscreen—this is a must! For nighttime, apply the serum and follow up with your moisturizer/cream.
After using the serum for three weeks, I noticed my skin felt hydrated, bright, and looked dewy.

Packaging: Could be improved
Vitamin C serums are notoriously unstable, breaking down when exposed to oxygen and sunlight. Many brands, therefore, choose to house their product in an opaque bottle to help counteract this. Klairs’ serum is in a clear bottle, so be sure to keep it in a cool, dark place away from sunlight to help preserve its shelf life.
The Results: Toned and dewy looking skin
There were a few things I had to get used to upon my first initial week of using this serum. The first is the smell. Upon opening, I found the product smelled slightly like glue, which caught me off guard, but it quickly went away and evaporated. The second was that upon applying, I felt a warm and tingling sensation that also dissipated over time. When I read that this was normal, I felt much better.

After using the serum for three weeks, I noticed my skin felt hydrated, bright, and looked dewy. The serum was absorbed quickly and left a soft, velvet-like finish on my skin, and worked very well under makeup. There was also absolutely no pilling, tacky texture, or issues around combining it with other products.
I liked how the serum made my skin feel and look and noticed a difference in the radiance and tone of my skin. I also experienced a few breakouts throughout the course of using this serum, they were not irritated by it—in fact, the serum helped calm my skin. I also liked how my pores looked after using the serum: slightly smaller and less noticeable.

The Value: Affordable and delivers results
There’s a sliding scale in price points when it comes to vitamin C serums. But for all of the benefits you get from this particular product—including how well it addresses skincare concerns and works with other products— the price tag of $23 is absolutely something I consider to be affordable.
