Introducing the Chanel 19 Bag – PurseBlog
Back in March Chanel presented its Fall 2019 collection, which was the last under the creative direction of Karl Lagerfeld. Chanel’s newest bag was designed along with Virginie Viard, and it made its debut on the runway of Paris Fashion Week earlier this year. The bag, called the Chanel 19 Bag, is aptly named after its birth year, and it is said to be inspired by the classic 2.55 bag. Like the new 19 Bag, the 2.55 was also named after the year it was created, as the bag was designed by Coco Chanel in February of 1955. When the Chanel 19 Bag first walked the runway last March, it was apparent that this new bag would be a big push for the brand, and now we’ve got the scoop on everything from the bags name, to its current sizes and fabrications.
Created to be both sturdy and supple, the bag features clean lines with a structure that is said to ‘liberate movement’. Classic to Chanel, the original version is crafted of smooth goatskin leather with an exaggerated diamond quilting. The bag is finished with contrasting hardware in both gold and ruthenium, which appears on the bags long chain and leather strap, though the Chanel 19 Bag is also designed to be daintily hand carried via the smaller gold chain. Currently the bag is offered in 4 different sizes: a waist bag, original, large, or maxi (see below for dimensions), and the goatskin leather versions are also featured alongside novelty tweed versions. Incredibly modern in its design and finishing, the Chanel 19 Bag is also classic in its own right, making it an incredibly lust-worthy new design, and the brand’s next possible it-bag.
