New Chanel Spring-Summer 2022 Mediterraneen Les 4 Ombres Eyeshadow Palette Review

The entire Chanel Spring-Summer 2022 Makeup Collection is stunning. I purchased The Mediterraneen Les 4 Ombres Eyeshadow Palette and one beautiful blush from the collection.

Last year I picked up many eyeshadow palettes. I tried new brands, new color stories. And I thought to myself, no more eyeshadow palettes. But then I saw the Chanel Spring-Summer 2022 Makeup Collection. So I went right ahead and got the Mediterraneen Les 4 Ombres Eyeshadow Palette from Nordstrom. The products are also available online at Chanel.com. Read my review for the blush shade Peche Rosse here.

Packaging Of The Chanel Les 4 Ombres Eyeshadow Palette

The packaging is standard Chanel eyeshadow compact packaging. Only difference is that the logo on the eyeshadow palette is gold instead of the white logo that appears on the regular eyeshadow palette. This palette is inspired by Gabrielle Chanel’s Mediterranean villa. The sunray motif embossing on the eyeshadows is simply breathtaking. As with other Chanel eyeshadows, this palette also comes with a Chanel pouch/sleeve.

Formula Of The Chanel Les 4 Ombres Eyeshadow Palette

This palette has 4 shimmer shades, some more shimmery than the others. I love the way Chanel makes shimmers. So I am not complaining. Beautiful, buildable, smooth and sophisticated. All the shades are very soft to the touch.

My Experience With The Formula Of The Chanel Les 4 Ombres Eyeshadow Palette

As you all know, I love neutral palettes. I did purchase a lot of colorful eyeshadows this year, but nothing thrills me more than old, boring neutrals. All 4 shades in the 747 Mediterraneen palette are shimmer shades. This palette will give you a very ethereal, luminous eye look. If you like a light wash of color all over your lid, you will love these. The darkest brown shade in the quad will help you add some depth to your look. I would best describe the shades as a light taupe, champagne, gold and bronze with some khaki green tones.

I love a soft wash of color all over my movable eyelid. Just one shade from this palette and liner and mascara and I feel very put together in a sophisticated way. Some beauties who want really intense pigmentation, might not be happy with this palette. The shadows are still more pigmented than they look. But the overall look you will get will be a soft, ethereal look. The shadows are very reflective and this quad fits the Chanel aesthetics perfectly. Also the champaign shade can be used as a lid topper.

Overall the formula is very well done. I am very glad that they decided to add the brown shade which you can use to pack on pigment if you want depth. If you are not going for depth you can blend the shades to get a softer look. I am very pleased with my purchase.

Pros

  • Beautiful formula, with one and done type of shades
  • Shimmery, reflective shades
  • Will give you a glowy, ethereal look

Cons

  • Not everyone might enjoy the color story

When I first saw the palette, I knew I would be getting a lot of use out of these one-and-done shades included in the palette. But I understand that it’s not for everyone. What about you? Do you like such palettes/shades? Or do you prefer shades with more impact?
