The story behind Pangea Organics

Pangea Organics was founded in 2001 by Joshua Onysko after he realized how many harmful ingredients were included in most skin care products on the market. Since then, Pangea has become an international brand and is recognized for its leadership in creating premium-quality formulations. In this review, we’ll discuss a few of the brand’s best selling products, key ingredients, Pangea Organics reviews from real customers, an alternative for you to consider, and more.

What are the Best Skin Care Products of 2023?

What are the best selling Pangea Organics products?

Pangea Organics formulates a variety of personal care products, including cleansers, soaps, lotions, lip balms, face masks, hand soaps, and body washes. Since there are too many products to cover in one review, we’ll focus on three of the best selling Pangea Organics products.

Pangea Organics Facial Mask
The brand makes a lot of claims for the Pangea Organics Facial Mask: it is said to deep-cleanse, exfoliate, tone, hydrate, nourish, protect, and balance the skin, while binding with toxins to pull them up and out. It is also said to noticeably improve the quality, tone, and texture of your complexion after just one use. But as you’ll learn in the next section, there are a few potentially problematic ingredients in the Pangea Organics Facial Mask.

Pangea Organics Facial Cream
Pangea Organics Facial Cream is an anti-aging, moisturizing facial cream that is said to stimulate circulation to boost your glow, while also toning, hydrating, and protecting skin. The Pangea Organics Facial Cream comes in three different formulations based on your skin type: Normal and Combination Skin, Dry and Sensitive Skin, and Oily and Blemish Prone Skin.

Pangea Organics Facial Toner
Pangea Organics Facial Toner is a brightening and anti-aging toner that is said to detoxify, decongest, and clear the skin. Just like the brand’s facial cream, the Pangea Organics Facial Toner is available in three different formulations based on your skin type.

What are the key Pangea Organics ingredients?

Pangea Organics focuses on using only the most nutrient-dense, organic ingredients in their product formulations. One key ingredient that is used as the base for nearly all Pangea Organics products is Aloe vera leaf juice.

Did you know that Aloe vera leaf juice is an extremely hydrating ingredient? Despite its thick, green, gel-like texture, Aloe vera is actually composed of 99 to 99.5% water! The high water content soothes the skin and helps to increase hydration. Aloe also contains a rich supply of glycosaminoglycans (GAGs), a class of sugar molecules that help bind moisture to the skin. GAGs are naturally found in human skin with a primary role of supporting the proteins collagen and elastin in the dermis. Collagen, elastin, and GAGs form the majority of an important support system called the extracellular matrix (ECM). GAGs readily absorb water, which creates the fluid that fills the space between collagen and elastin fibers in the dermis, giving it turgidity.

Another key ingredient that you can find in several products, such as the Pangea Organics Facial Cream and Facial Toner, is ethyl ascorbic acid (a stable derivative of vitamin C). Vitamin C is a very potent antioxidant. Antioxidants work by limiting oxidative damage caused by free radicals, the unstable molecules that contribute to the formation of premature wrinkles and fine lines on the skin. Vitamin C is also known to help brighten the skin tone and decrease the appearance of dark spots through inhibition of melanin synthesis. Lastly, vitamin C plays a role in the synthesis of collagen. By increasing the amount of collagen in the skin, signs of aging will be diminished and the skin will appear more firm.

One potentially problematic ingredient that is used in the Pangea Organics Facial Mask is SDA 38B Lavender, which is organic alcohol (ethanol) that has been denatured (made undrinkable) with organic lavender essential oils. Denatured alcohol is the fourth highest concentration ingredient in this mask. The problem with this type of alcohol is that, at first, it seems like it’s benefitting the skin. Initially, alcohol gives products a quick-drying finish, immediately degreases the skin, and imparts a weightless feel. The major problem with using high concentrations of alcohol is that this ingredient is well known to cause skin dryness, irritation, and even disruption of the skin barrier. In fact, alcohol can dry out the skin so much that the skin will produce more oil over time to compensate for the dryness. This can lead to clogged pores and breakouts.

Something to keep in mind is that all Pangea Organics products contain fragrant essential oils. Even though these essential oils are natural and organic, any ingredient that imparts a scent has the potential of causing sensitization, irritation, and even damage.

Where is Pangea Organics sold?

Pangea Organics products are sold on the brand’s website, as well as several third party online retailers such as Follain, iHerb, and Amazon. You can also find Pangea Organics products in health food stores around the United States. Head to the brand’s website and use the store locator to find a retailer that sells Pangea Organics products near you.

What is the Pangea Organics return policy?

Pangea Organics does not display their return policy on their website. Thus, you will have to contact the brand’s customer service in order to determine their return policy.

Is Pangea Organics cruelty free?

Pangea Organics is cruelty free; all products are certified cruelty-free by Leaping Bunny.

Pangea Organics reviews

Pangea Organics reviews on the brand’s website are mostly positive, however, there aren’t very many reviews at the moment (typically less than 30 per product).

Reviews for the Pangea Organics Facial Mask are mostly all five-star ratings, with customers commenting on how the mask helps their face to feel smooth and moisturized. There are a few reviews that mention this mask causes redness after use, but that the redness goes away and isn’t bothersome.

Pangea Organic reviews for the Facial Cream are a mix of positive and negative. Positive reviews mention that it is moisturizing but not greasy, and helps the skin to look healthier. However, there are a few negative reviews that mention the formulation is not moisturizing enough. For example, one reviewer comments, “I wanted so much to like this moisturizer, but it managed to dry out my skin. Even when I added the balancing oil and another lotion, my skin still felt tight after.”

Pangea Organic reviews for the Facial Toner are mostly positive, with reviewers commenting on how this toner helps the skin to feel fresh, clean, and clear.

What are some alternatives to Pangea Organics?

Overall, we like that Pangea Organics uses high quality, organic ingredients to formulate their products. With that being said, there are still a few Pangea Organics ingredients that can be potentially problematic, even though they are natural and organic (such as denatured alcohol and fragrant plant oils).

That’s why we’d like to recommend an alternative for you to consider: Formulyst’s Active Serum. This lightweight serum features a blend of antioxidant vitamins C and E, ferulic acid, niacinamide, and panthenol to help shield your skin from environmental assaults that age your skin. It’s the ultimate antioxidant formulation to help your skin look brighter, healthier, and more youthful.

Another brand that balances the power of plants with cutting edge science is Carrot & Stick. Not only is Carrot & Stick good for your skin, it is also good for the environment as the formulas skip harmful chemicals commonly found in skincare products.
