This post will be reviewing the Purito Centella Unscented Serum.

Every once in a while, I come across a product that reminds me why Korean Skincare hits differently. This product happens to be one of them. Yes, 2020 wasn’t the best for Purito given their Sunscreen scandal but that doesn’t mean I’ll be quick to cancel the brand. Actually, they have decent products and I’m still willing to give them a try as long as they cater to my skincare needs. This means that next year, I’ll be looking forward to trying two of their newest products including;

  • Daily Go-To Sunscreen: their newly reformulated sunscreen
  • AHA BHA Refreshing Solution plus a bunch of their moisturizers.

Lately, I’ve found myself choosing serums over toners because the latter takes forever to finish. Most times, by the time I’m halfway through the product, I’m bored and ready to move to the next one. To solve this, I started buying fewer toners, replaced them with Toner Mists and focused on hydrating and barrier repairing serums.

This product happens to tick all the boxes and I’m ready to talk about it!

First Impression of the Purito Centella Unscented Serum

According to Purito;

This serum rejuvenates the skin by strengthening its barrier. It contains essential Centella ingredients to restore a damaged skin barrier and soothe irritated skin. The Centella Asiatica Extract an Panthenol help calm the irritated skin prventing further inflammation. If your skin is stressed using too many products with various ingredients that do not fit your skin, give your face a break and help it restore by using the Centella Unscented Serum

Ingredient List & Fragrance.

My favourite thing about this product asides from its texture is its ingredient list. It’s an all-around barrier repair serum with a solid ingredient list. Let’s get into it!

It is formulated with:

  • 49% Centella Asiatica Extract which is excellent for soothing skin inflammations.
  • Asiaticoside, Asiatic Acid, Madecassic Acid all in the Centella Asiatica Family
  • Niacinamide
  • Ceramide strengthens the skin barrier and prevent transepidermal water loss (TEWL)
  • Hyaluronic Acid
  • 4 Types of Peptides which improves the skin elasticity thereby preventing wrinkles.
  • Panthenol
  • Green Tea
  • Adenosine
  • Arginine

Honestly, how can you go wrong with that ingredient list?! If this kind of product were to be formulated by a US brand, it will cost an arm and a leg. So, if you have sensitive, rosacea-prone skin or your skin barrier has been damaged by over-exfoliating, then you absolutely need this product. Also, if you use prescription-strength products like Tretinoin and 15 – 20% Azelaic Acid in your routine, you honestly need a product like this to soothe any potential irritation.

Did I mention it is also alcohol, essential oil and fragrance-free?!

Texture & Consistency

This is honestly my favourite type of serum. it reminds me so much of the Hada Labo Gokujyun Premium Lotion. It has a semi-thick texture with a viscous consistency. Plus, I love how it is formulated in a pump bottle which ensures that I use just enough for my entire face and prevent wastage in the process. Typically, I use 1-2 pumps for my face. If I’m, feeling extra generous, I go in with another pump.

The texture ensures that the product spreads beautifully over my face and absorbs quickly into my skin. Did I mention how incredibly hydrating it is? The texture and consistency are enough to give away its hydrating qualities.

Price & Avalaibilty

I honestly can’t believe how affordable this product is. For less than $15, you get a 60ml hydrating serum that will give half of the products on the market a run for their money. Fortunately, Purito has ensured that their products are readily available especially since their targets audience is mostly the international market outside South Korea.

Review of the Purito Centella Unscented Serum

So I’ve been using this product for a couple of months now. I use it in my nighttime routine before Retinal to hydrate, buffer my skin and prevent any potential irritation. Anytime my skin barrier feels compromised, I stop the Retinal and any other actives and just focus on repair. So far, it’s been working very well for me.

Performance

I use this product as the second step after my hydrating or exfoliating toner. As a result of its consistency, I always like to layer a watery toner under it. It simply aids absorption and prevents piling.

Immediately after application, you can instantly feel how calm and soothed your skin is. it is one of the reasons I sometimes want to drench my entire face into the product. It is that good.

A few weeks ago, I was experiencing a bit of irritation from overdoing it with my actives. So I decided to stop them for about a week. You know when your face starts to sting, you know for sure that your skin barrier has been compromised. Together with the Cosrx Snail Mucin Power Essence, my skin was healed in a week. When I was finally ready to re-introduce my actives, I did so without any problems whatsoever.

Finally,

What more can I say? The Purito Centella Unscented Serum is a must-have in any skincare routine especially if you use a lot of actives. It comes in very handy for hydration and barrier repair.
