Reddit – Dive into anything
Hello Ladies!
I am back with another bralette review, this time for Calvin Klein’s Invisbles Bralette. So, i have been a fan of CK bralettes for quite a while, though until now i’ve stuck to their modern cotton bralettes with the CK elastic band, which has been my go-to everyday bra. This time, i needed a kind of bandeau shaped bralette with thin straps for my white graduation dress, and so i found the Calvin Klein Invisibles line.
I am a very projected, extremely wide set (4 fingers between the girls!) 70F. That’s a 32E for those unacquainted with European bra sizes. I’ve had a tough time finding bralette that have small enough bands and big enough cups, but so far Calvin Klein and Tutti Rouge bralettes generally seem to do the trick.
The model i got was their Skinny strap Bralette, but they also offer a V-neck bralette with thick straps, a tanktop with thick straps and a full slip with thin straps – all with removable pads.
The shape
Apart from the fit being amazing, the shape is also pretty nice. As i’ve mentioned, my boobs are at least half a country apart. I can fit 4 fingers in between, but somehow my girls sit nice and centered with this on, and it lifts my breast just enough to get a nice and even teardrop shape. Surprisingly enough, the removable padding wasn’t abhorrent, as it usually is for bigger cup sizes (I’ve found out from experience). I was ready to take them out before i even put it on, but gave them a chance, and actually, they’re very nice. The pads shape to my breast, and cover them almost completely – save for the sides. They are easily movable within their little pocket, and the lining has an opening by the bra strap, which is nice and discreet, but still big enough to get the pads in and out with relative ease.
The Fabric
So, the Invisibles line are made from Nylon-Elastane blend, which translates to a microfiber jersey. It has lasercut edges and doesn’t fray, and a smooth surface, so it is completely invisible under any clothing, and I’m here for it. The fabric is immensely *soft,*and it basically feels like wearing nothing, apart from the tag in the side, which I’m gonna cut out because f*** tags. But it does indeed live up to CK’s promises of a completely seamless, second skin-like bralette. When you look at it on the models, it doesn’t look like it’s gonna hold much, since the fabric looks pretty thin, but it’s not as thin as it looks, and under a shirt, no one can see a stiff nipple.
The fit
Pictures of fit
The Fit is absolutely perfect. As usual, their bralettes are sized after the S-M-L system, and have sizes XS to XL. Not the most inclusive, but should be fine for most. As I ordered from the official Calvin Klein site, i used their size guide to see if i should go for S/M/L, since i’m pretty flexible with sizing. Even though my bust is technically 2 cm too large for their M size, (I’m 96 cm standing bust and their M is for 89-94 cm) it still fits like a glove. No spill, no quad-boob, band touches my rib cage all the way around and so on. I suspect i can get away with this because of my soft tissue, along with the considerable stretch in the fabric.
Even though the straps are pretty thin, they dont dig in. Seeing as at least half my breast sits under my armpit, i do have a tiny dollop of fat between the strap and my arm, but that is because of the cut, which is kind of like a bandeau with straps, and would happen no matter what with this cut and my boobs.
While its on, it feels pretty sturdy, and while not providing as much support as a bra, it does reduce bounce quite a lot for me. Well, it doesn’t hurt when i walk up the stairs at a normal to fast pace, which it would with less support. While not having an elastic band, the fabric has just the right amount of stretch to provide wiggle-room for different cup-sizes, but also keep a moderate amount of support. To compare, it gives more support than the modern racerback bralette form CK, but also less than the Tutti Rouge Bralette i reviewed about a month ago. So its a nice middle ground between light support and wired-bra level support – without the wires, of course. Though for me, personally, i found it to be almost as good as a wired bra. But then again, I’m young so my chest doesn’t sag too much, but still enough to need something to keep the girls up.
I went for a M, but had i been a cup-size bigger, i would’ve been quadding. Though a 32 band would do just fine in an L. Seeing as I went down a size compared to CK’s size chart, it seems that for this style in particular (and most likely this whole line) the fabric allows for a +-2 cm on sizing, which translates to about 2/3-1 inch. But i wouldn’t recommend going down a size unless you’re familiar with CK and the fit of their bralettes. If you already have a couple of CK bralettes (like their cotton racerback bralette) i would just pick the size you usually wear, and if you’re new, follow the size guide. I only went down a size because i have a small band/large cup thing going on and knew that a M would fit me fine.
Where to get it – Shipping from calvinklein.com
I ordered my bralette directly from Calvin Klein’s own website, but it was available on local websites as well as Amazon, but it was actually cheaper getting it directly from them because the shipping was a bit cheaper than what i found on Danish websites.
I paid 360 DKK incl. shipping, which translates to about 53,8$. Which seems expensive, but that’s because verything in Denmark is expensive ( :C ). Also we have to pay 25% VAT on everything, so that hikes up the price considerably. Though, this is relatively cheap for me, and a lot cheaper than buying a high quality bra. So that’s a plus.
On Amazon this retails for about 38$, but there are a few offers for 27.99$ on some colors and sizes.
For Europeans, i would actually recommend getting it directly from CK unless its on sale on a local website. Shipping was fast (4 days in total) and they offer free returns, and ship to most of Europe plus the UK.
Conclusion
I’m absolutely amazed at this bralette and i love it to death, despite only testing it for a few days. I often forget i’m wearing anything throughout the day, and if you have a small to sizable chest that isn’t completely dependent on full-support, this is perfect in my opinion. I’m so happy to have found this and i hope someone else will be too. And even if it doesn’t work out for you, Calvin Klein’s own site offers free returns and it’s available on amazon, so it’s not a risky buy if you decide to try it.
It’s soft, it’s stretchy, it lifts, it centers, it’s seamless and most of all – it’s super comfy. If i could give this stars, it would get all of them.
I hope i wasn’t too long-winded about this, but i just needed a place to rave about this because i was so taken aback by how much i love this.
