The 15 Most Popular High End Clothing Brands
Fashion has been on an upward trend for the last few decades with some newcomers on the scene, but the fashion houses that have stood the test of time still dominate the market.
High fashion, or Haute Couture is the creation of exquisite clothing custom made for individual elite clients. It is not mainstream, as they use the best quality and rarest materials available, as well as personalized craftsmanship, hence the name Haute Couture.
Some fashion houses that have been very successful employ the best seamstresses and live by well-defined standards of the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture.
Those criteria are:
- Custom designs for private clients
- Have a workshop, or as the French call it ‘Atelier’ in Paris with a minimum full-time staff of 15
- Employ at least 20 full-time technical people in at least one atelier
- Showcase a collection of 50 pieces to the public of both day and evening wear twice a year (January and July) in one of the fashion capitals of the world (Paris, Milan, London, New York or Tokyo).
This is one of the reasons it is very difficult if not nearly impossible for newcomers to break in this market.
Despite the uncertainty the state of the world is in at the moment, the fashion sector has not suffered a major hit. Most of the designers we are going to mention are based in Europe and their loyal clientele is keeping their business striving.
