WWE Hints At Hurt Business Reunion In WWE Raw Easter Egg [Video]
Back in May of 2020, MVP aligned himself with Bobby Lashley, promising to manage the star to greatness. In the following months, Shelton Benjamin and then Cedric Alexander joined their ranks, and The Hurt Business was born.
During his time with the group, Bobby Lashley went on to win both the United States Championship and later won his first WWE Championship when he defeated The Miz in a lumberjack match on WWE Raw in March of 2021. Cedric Alexander and Shelton Benjamin also found success as part of the group, winning the Raw Tag Team Championship at WWE TLC in December of 2020 and holding onto the belts until their loss to The New Day on the March 15th episode of WWE Raw.
Cracks began to form in the group following the tag team title loss, and they were kicked out of the group by Bobby Lashley. This move was heavily criticized by fans who believed the group had more to accomplish, and while Alexander and Benjamin have teamed on and off throughout various feuds, calls for a Hurt Business reunion became even more doubtful when MVP turned on Bobby Lashley and aligned himself with Omos ahead of WrestleMania 38.
WWE Raw Showed A Potential Hurt Business Reunion
During the January 2nd episode of WWE Raw, the members of Damage CTRL were shown making their way to Gorilla position during a brief backstage segment ahead of them addressing the Nashville crowd and calling out Becky Lynch. However, eagle-eyed viewers noticed that in the background, MVP could be seen speaking with Cedric Alexander and Shelton Benjamin, hinting that a Hurt Business reunion could finally be on the horizon.
During a November 2022 interview with Radio Rahim in Saudi Arabia ahead of WWE Crown Jewel, Lashley vowed that he would get the group back together, and it looks like he may be getting his wish.
“The Hurt Business was something that everybody loved, and everybody will still love. Never say never. Not even never say never. I will make sure that somehow, some way, we get back together because it seems like right now, everybody is getting back into some sort of group in the WWE. There are so many different factions coming together.
“The most important faction and one of the biggest factions for the last few years, the one that took us through the pandemic was the Hurt Business. During the pandemic, everybody else was staying at home. So many people staying at home and didn’t want to go to work, so many people who took a backstep when The Hurt Business stepped up. We were every part of the show for a long time. So, I think that should get a rebirth.” (h/t WrestlingNews.co)
